Japanese Model Tram Layout - Tomix Fine Track

The total size of the layout is 60" x 30" (152 cm x 76 cm) although the track only occupies the front 60" x 20". I used Tomix track curves C177 and C140. It is possible to run two trams at once with independent control of both. The layout used DC power with the track feeds placed at the front of the layout. A large section of the layout was devoted to the depot which consisted of a six line ladder. The two oval tracks are connected by mini rail turnouts that allow trains to cross from one oval to the other. Insulated fish-plates (Tomix 0111) were added to the turnout connection to isolate each set of tracks. There was also a passing loop to add more flexibility for operation on the outer line. It was possible to run up to eight trams at a time on the layout. The inner track power feed was placed so that the rest of the inner track was isolated whenever a tram crossed from the outer track to the depot. This was important to allow the operation of eight trams. As usual I made the Tomytec structures, vehicles and scenic elements quite flexible so they could be easily reused.. They were all recycled items from my previous layouts. Nothing was glued down. The trams were from Modemo, Kato and the Tomytec Railway Collection.
